A place for writing and reflection on art, queerness,

colour, and time.

The Burning Chapel

In the candle alcoves of the Chapel of Saint Petka in Belgrade, devotion gathers in heat and smoke. Here, the faces of saints are not only venerated but slowly altered by flame - darkened, blurred, sometimes almost undone. What might it mean to attend to this quiet, material erosion? This reflection lingers with the affective and temporal life of these burned images.

About the writing

I’m Glasgow, an art historian and writer interested in what happens when we look slowly and otherwise. This space gathers my reflections on art across periods, with colour, queerness, and time as recurring guides. Moving between early modern painting and contemporary practice, the writing here stays close to the experience of looking - making space to let go of perfection and attend to the affective life of images.
